Derby Airport Opening!
Derby’s refurbished airport terminal and airstrip was officially opened. The $8 million-dollar project is aimed at enabling the recommencement of a regular passenger transport service from Perth to Derby in addition to supporting its growing remote tourism industry.
RFF commenced work on this project in 2014 and assisted the Shire in developing design, feasibility and detailed business case which led to nearly a $6 million-dollar contribution towards the project from the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund. We subsequently managed detailed design and construction which was completed by H&M Tracey . We are very excited to see the State Government has now let tenders to re-establish an RPT service to Derby and look forward seeing this vital service commencing once more.
Congratulations Shire of Derby/West Kimberley on completion of this exciting project.
